As the proud Irish jewellery designer behind Loinnir Jewellery, I'm excited to introduce you to a world where tradition meets innovation, where sterling silver and gold vermeil transform into wearable stories, and where every piece resonates with the spirit of Ireland.
At the age of 24, I proudly graduated from The National College of Art & Design , specialising in jewellery and metalwork. My academic odyssey wasn't just about acquiring a degree; it was a profound exploration into unravelling the intricate threads of Irish and Celtic jewellery design. This voyage extended to The National Museum of Ireland's Archaeological museum, where the 'Ór collection,' a treasury of prehistoric goldwork spanning between 2200 BC and 500 BC, invited my inspiration to flow.
Within this collection, pieces like the enigmatic Lunulae and the Torcs, originating from the Mooghaun North Hoard in County Clare, came alive. The crafted objects, from bracelets to the necklace-rings, adorned with meticulous detail, struck a harmonious chord within me. This journey was a revelation – why hadn't I encountered this representation of Irish jewellery before? Amidst the ubiquitous Tara brooches and Celtic knots that line the shelves of gift shops in Dublin, these magnificent relics were curiously absent.
It became apparent that these proud pieces held an eternal allure, transcending the boundaries of time. And so, a seed of realisation took root – I envisioned these treasures gracefully adorning the present, much like they did in their era of creation. This sparked an electrifying opportunity, paving the path for crafting an Irish-themed jewellery collection that encapsulates the essence of these relics while embracing a contemporary, modern perspective.
Thus, the very concept of 'Loinnir Jewellery' was born. It wasn't just about crafting jewellery; it was about creating modern heirlooms that resonate through the ages. Each piece that I meticulously design seeks to celebrate Ireland's vibrant heritage, infusing it with a fresh and modern aesthetic that beckons to the present. With every creation, I aspire to bridge the past and the present, allowing wearers to carry a piece of Ireland's spirit with them, wherever they go.
Thank you for joining me on this journey, for allowing Loinnir Jewellery to become a part of your story. With every piece that you wear, you're not just adorning yourself – you're becoming a living testament to the everlasting allure of Ireland's heritage. Here's to the past, the present, and the future, all beautifully woven into the timeless designs of Loinnir Jewellery.
